IT Home May 26, 2026 message, FaceWall Intelligent today jointly released and open-sourced the latest generation of edge-side text base model —— MiniCPM5-1B, in collaboration with Tsinghua University and the OpenBMB open-source community.

The official statement says that MiniCPM5-1B, with only a 1B parameter scale, surpassed all models with less than 2B parameters on the internationally renowned AA-Index (Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index); compared to Qwen3.5-2B published three months ago, MiniCPM5-1B not only has better performance but also reduces the number of parameters by half.

This model has a weight of only 0.5GB after INT4 quantization and can run on mobile devices and browsers. Its Base Model version was pre-trained using the AI training framework ForgeTrain developed independently by FaceWall Intelligent.

MiniCPM5-1B is now fully open-sourced, including model weights, training datasets, and deployment plans. IT Home provides relevant links as follows:
