Microsoft opened pre-orders on October 7 for the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, a $5,999 mini PC for local AI built around NVIDIA's RTX Spark Superchip. Two footnotes in Microsoft's own announcement decide what that money buys. The headline spec is 128 GB of unified memory shared between CPU and GPU. Footnote one says the amount the GPU can address depends on configuration and workload and "is less than the total." That matters because Microsoft says the box supports models exceeding 120B parameters with larg
